AFTER THE FUNERAL

While we will help you to organise everything before the funeral, once the funeral is over there may still be some things you need to arrange. Whatever those things may be, we will still be there to help.

mEMORIALS TO commemorate the life of a loved one

Memorials can be a wonderful way to remember and celebrate the life of a family member or friend who has passed. A memorial can range from a headstone placed at a grave to a simple flower in a garden of remembrance.

Memorials provide comfort for many people, giving them a place to remember the person who has died.

At D Moodie and Co, we have an extensive range of memorial options available to you.

We can provide custom-engraved headstones with a message, prayer or quote from your loved one.

Ashes

When someone has been cremated, what happens to their ashes is not always an easy decision. At D Moodie and Co, we offer help for those that need it and we would always recommend that you and your family take your time when deciding what the next step for your loved one's ashes should be. We will never pressure you into making a decision, but will be here to offer suggestions and support.

  • Keeping the ashes with you

If you are most comfortable keeping the ashes of your loved one, we can provide beautiful, decorative urns, simple boxes or bespoke ash caskets and scatter tubes.

  • Scattering the ashes in our remembrance garden

Scattering your loved one's ashes enables you to have a place that you can visit in the future, should you wish to. The scattering can be done in the presence of you and your family or if you would prefer, our team are able to scatter the ashes on your behalf.

  • Choosing a special place for the ashes

Many times, families that we have helped have chosen to scatter their loved one's ashes in a special place that is unique to them. This could be the sea, a garden, in the country or even at a sports ground. We offer advice and information about scattering ashes, so please don't hesitate to contact us to discuss your idea.

  • Burying ashes at a grave

If you have a special place at a cemetary or would like to bury ashes at an existing grave or new grave, we are able to help. Cermonies can be conducted and memorial stones and plaques can also be added.

  • Taking a loved one's ashes abroad or overseas

At D Moodie and Co we will always provide written documentation with the ashes that enable you to travel with them. This documentation can be used when going through customs in any country.

  • Other memorials and information

When it comes to cremations and the ashes of the deceased, we undertand that you may have questions. Decisions regarding ashes, ceremonies and memorials often need time. Our funeral directors will contact you about 2 or 3 weeks after the funeral to discuss cremated remains and all of your options.
